One of gamedom's finest -- and creepiest -- survival horror games has hacked and slashed its way onto the Nintendo Wii system, with improved handling, features and graphics. In Capcom's thriller, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, gamers play as Leon S. Kennedy, who has advanced from rookie cop in Resident Evil 2 to secret agent, and are dispatched to a remote European village to retrieve the U.S. President's kidnapped daughter. The townsfolk don't want you meddling in their business, and will do what it takes to keep you from leaving alive.

The most noticeable upgrade from the original PlayStation 2 game is how you control the protagonist: using the motion-sensing controller to aim and fire the gun or slash Leon's knife in order to keep the nasty zombie-like enemies at bay. While it takes some getting used to, the Wii Remote adds a more realistic and immersive touch to the award-winning game. In a few months Nintendo will also sell a Wii Zapper, a $20 gun-shaped housing for the Wii Remote and nunchaku controller so you can hold it like a weapon to aim and fire at enemies. To reload your gun, point the Wii Zapper up toward the ceiling and give it a quick shake. This Wii version of Resident Evil 4 also includes smarter artificial intelligence, new camera angles to get a better view of the action and a second playable character, Ada Wong, in five brand-new chapters.
