Little Hannah Collins

“ We had the Bunnies on stage, and Kelvin was even more excited than usual -- obviously for different reasons. ”

By Tim Lowery

Who Is She?

The only female member of down-and-dirty U.K. outfit the Heavy, this soulful vixen adds sweetness to the group's sex-charged blend of soul, rock and hip-hop. And despite all the drunken revelry that comes with a rock-and-roll lifestyle, she stays sharp enough to be the band's keyboardist, sampler and silky-sounding background vocalist.

What Has She Done?

At Playboy's Party with Jack event at this year's SXSW music festival, Hannah and the boys' blistering live set gave our Bunnies reason to shake their tails. And after generating buzz across the pond, the band kicks off its first tour of the States this spring, making a stop at Last Call with Carson Daly.

Why Do We Care?

A sexy girl who rocks out on stage, knows more about music than those dudes in High Fidelity and is named after blues legend Little Walter.... What's not to love?

PLAYBOY.COM: How was the Playboy party at SXSW?

LITTLE HANNAH COLLINS: It was something else, really. We had the Bunnies on stage, and [lead singer] Kelvin was even more excited than usual -- obviously for different reasons. It was quite mental.

PLAYBOY.COM: The guys visited a shooting range in Texas when you were at SXSW. Why didn't you go?

COLLINS: We had two hours sleep or something 'cause of the Playboy party; it was the morning after. God knows how Kelvin got up. He'd drunk a lot the night before. The guys were really hyped about going and shooting guns, and that was not really my thing. So I was like, "Oh good. I have a few hours to sit by the pool at the hotel." Actually, [after] being at the Playboy party the night before and seeing all the nice, tanned women, I was like, "I need to be tan."

PLAYBOY.COM: What's it like being in a band with a bunch of guys?

COLLINS: When you're the only girl, all the boys are just like, you know, whatever; they don't need to wear makeup. I'm like, "I wanna put my makeup on if they're going to take my picture!" [laughs] The boys sometimes forget that women need time. Preferably five hours.

PLAYBOY.COM: You're playing Last Call with Carson Daly. What do you think of L.A.?

COLLINS: I always say as an English person, it's quite strange. In L.A., there's so much of it that you've actually already seen and you don't realize it -- it's all over films and so many programs you see over here.

PLAYBOY.COM: What's the craziest thing that's happened while touring?

COLLINS: A lot of mad things have happened. One time when we stayed in Hamburg -- and it was actually my birthday -- we had to sleep in this space that was kind of a crack den. It wasn't, but it was almost as bad. And the guys got really drunk and they kicked through a door and ended up really, really pissing off this German guy who was next door. I'd gone to sleep in a hotel because I didn't want to sleep in this place on my birthday. And I woke up the next day in the morning to see them all sleeping in the van.
