When Lehigh's engineers get tired of designing screwdrivers and start drinking them, they head straight to the Tally Ho. This local Bethlehem, Pennsylvania hangout started out as a speakeasy in the 1920s; when Prohibition ended in 1934, it axed the bathtub gin from the menu and opened its doors legally. Only a few blocks from campus, with notoriously happy bartenders and dollar drafts, it's no wonder Lehigh students, alumni and even staff have been drinking round after round here for decades.

The Scene: At "The Ho," as it's known by regulars, fox hunting is a serious business -- play your cards right with the women here, and you might get mounted, too. Cute girls are everywhere, especially in the aptly named Vixen Room, which has pool tables and games. The Hunt Room features a dance floor and a live music stage, as well as an outdoor deck that serves up frozen drinks during Pennsylvania's non-frozen months.

"Lehigh is great for higher learning, but college social skills are taught here at the Ho," explained Ken Spalding, the bar's co-owner. Be sure to carve your initials in the wooden booths -- drunk students have done it for decades, and the wood is never refinished for tradition's sake. Heading into a fifth year at Lehigh? You've probably already earned one of the bar's party animal diplomas, which are handed out before graduation. "This bar is classic," said Cory, a senior studying chemical engineering. "Just look at the pictures on the walls or talk to alumni and professors who come in -- they tell stories about the fun they had in here 20 or 30 years ago."

The Tally "Ho's": On Friday and Saturday nights Lehigh women dress up and pound the bar's nightly specials down. "They know how to have a good time, and they know what they want at the end of the night," hinted Marsh, a senior marketing major. Watch them grind in the Hunt Room on what Lehigh guys call "Flasher Friday," where legend has it you'll see skin once the shots start flowing and the DJ starts spinning.

When to Go: Fridays and Saturdays are prime time and the place is packed. Happy hour also draws the crowds, and football season means Mountain Hawk fans basking under the bar's big screens. "Night or day, it's a place where everyone can just get together to forget about tests and just hang out," said Michael, a senior chemical engineer.

Dress Code: Guys should avoid tank tops, but women can sport whatever attire they desire as long as they have shoes on their feet. Tight tops and jeans are the norm for the foxes at the Ho. "There is never a lack of cleavage with the ladies here," said Andrew, a senior philosophy major.

At the Bar: Mondays, $1 Coors and Coors Light bottles, $1 pints, $4 pitchers of Killians draft. Tuesdays, $1.50 pints, $5 pitchers of Moosehead draft. Wednesdays, $3 Long Islands, $2 Soco/Lime shots. Thursdays, $1 pints of Coors and Killians. Fridays, free food and $1 drafts at happy hour, $1.50 Yuengling bottles, 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Saturdays, $2 Jager shots.
