Kathy's Playmate of the Month feature was the first to acknowledge that the Playmate was a mother. Fifty percent of her fan mail was from women asking advice. As Kathy said later in an online chat, she had expected letters from women to be negative. "It was really nice, and very supportive."

"My mom and I have a great relationship. I was raised in Dayton, Ohio and Los Angeles, so I really feel like she was able to give me the best of both worlds. These days one of my favorite things to do is get sushi with my mom. We call sushi 'happy food' because it always makes us smile. I know I wouldn't be where I am today without her."
