Playboy Club model and former flight attendant Phoebe Wintle has traveled to almost every country around the world. Although she was born and raised in England, Phoebe now lives abroad in Dubai and still travels often.
When asked what item she can’t travel without, Phoebe says she keeps her portable luggage scales with her at all times because she’s a chronic overpacker.
“As a girl, you have shoes, bags, makeup, and toiletries, so your luggage quickly goes over the weight limit. The luggage scale just eliminates any stress before checking in my cases. I’ve had the same one for five years, and it has traveled with me to hundreds of countries while I was a cabin crew member,” she says.
Phoebe’s advice for comfortable plane travel is to pack an eye mask for night flights.
“That’s always the first thing I check to make sure I have with me as it helps so much,” she says.
She also recommends bringing a memory foam neck pillow and to sit in a window seat because she says that there is nothing worse than having nothing to rest your head on.
“I’m 5’ 3” and I am super lucky to have shorter legs, so I do find it easier than most to get comfortable on a plane,” Phoebe says. “But the last thing I recommend is that I just always make sure I’m wearing nice fluffy socks. Make sure you have something comfy and warm. If it’s nighttime as those cabins get cold, and then always have a bottle of water nearby for hydration,” she adds.
Out of all of the places Phoebe has traveled to, she says that if you want the best steak and wine in the world, then you need to get yourself to Cape Town, South Africa.
“Wow. This may sound dramatic, but I will remember that steak for the rest of my life. I ate it on my 21st birthday, which made it so special,” she says. “For amazing street food, I would recommend Singapore or Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. I just love Asian cuisine, so that tops it.”
Although she has been to hundreds of countries worldwide, Phoebe’s absolute dream destination that she hasn’t been to yet is Hawaii. “I’ve wanted to go there ever since I was a kid. It started after Lilo & Stitch, and then another film that is a favorite is Just Go With It with Adam Sandler and it just looks amazing there,” she says. “I’ve always dreamed of having a honeymoon there in the future when I find a man and get married. But I know at the moment it’s not the time to travel there.”
In her own words, here are Phoebe’s top five travel destinations that you should add to your bucket list.
Orlando, Florida
Phoebe loves Orlando because she has the most magical memories going there on family holidays growing up. “My family lives in Florida and I’ve always wanted to move to that state. I’m a massive adrenaline junkie, so I love going to theme parks and water parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, and just always having something to do,” she says. “My favorite is Volcano Bay. I actually had my first legal drink in the United States there! Florida will just always be my favorite place in the world.”
Singapore
“I used to fly there as an air hostess and it has everything! The culture and food was amazing, and it’s a big modern city so great for a night out. My hotel room service had a robot delivering food, so that was really cool,” she says. “Plus, they have the most amazing beaches. If you ever go there, make sure to visit Sentosa Island and the Gardens by the Bay! Watch the film Crazy Rich Asians, which is filmed in Singapore, and you can get a glimpse of how amazing it is.”
The Bahamas
Phoebe says the Bahamas has the most beautiful beaches and the clearest turquoise water. “I spent everyday in that water snorkeling or paddle boarding where you can see all the tropical fish. And I felt safe – I get scared about sharks a lot in places,” she says. “We did a booze boat and hopped to all these islands and it was the best day. I’ve been lucky enough to go twice but not for very long, so I’d love to go again and do the Pig Island!”
Ibiza
Ibiza is one of those islands you just get lost in the best way possible. “It’s my favorite summer destination to go with my girls. It’s full of Brits, so I can go there and know so many people. I can spend the day at Ocean Beach all dressed up and see everyone I know all in one place,” Phoebe says. “I love house music, so my favorite event is probably Destino or Ushuaia. You could go 50 times and every year you will still want to go back.”
Dubai
“As a British girl, Dubai is one of the best places ever,” Phoebe says. “I have so many reasons as to why I’ve just moved here. There is so much to do in Dubai on vacation like activities, beach clubs, night clubs, events, and restaurants.”
Phoebe says the best time to visit Dubai is between October and May because the summer months are super hot. Everything there is so modern and extravagant, so the holiday time is extra special there because you can really dress up.
