Why Kylie Hammonds Loves Her Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53
“I’ve always been a fan of Mercedes,” Kylie told Playboy. “I’ve only ever had three cars including this one and they were all Mercedes. I just love the brand, and this is my first SUV. So it’s a lot larger. It kind of makes me feel—I’m going down the road and—I just feel like a grown up.”
This line goes back to 1997, when it was known as the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. It is currently in its fourth generation, which began in October 2018. It sits smack dab in the middle of the smaller GLC and the larger GLS lines. The G in GLE stands for Geländewagen, which is one of those thick German words that condenses three words into one. In this case, those words are “off land wagon.”
This iteration of the line has been noted for its enhanced performance, but its history isn’t without its pratfalls. In March of 2024, Mercedes-Benz recalled over 100,000 GLE cars due to loose ground cables located under the passenger seat.
Kylie typically drives her GLE in short spurts, and is prudent when it comes to speed.
“I’ve put it on the highway but I don’t drive it fast,” Hammonds said. “I don’t think I’ve ever gone over 95 miles per hour.”
