Q&A: Salice Rose

Salice Rose
Dishing about foul-mouthed catchphrases, NY pizza, and always being kind to waitstaff with the social media mega star.

Social media mega star and Playboy Club creator Salice Rose has more than 44 million followers to her name, a testament to the power of Latino Excellence. She sat down with Playboy to discuss living life in the limelight, her super powers, and her charming catchphrase that’s not exactly safe for work.

Playboy: To start us off, where were you born?

Salice: I was born in Palmdale.

Playboy: What did you like most about growing up in Palmdale?

Salice: Really, nothing. I like the fact that my family’s out here and yeah, it’s just kind of like…wherever. It’s always gonna feel like home, though.

Playboy: What was the first thing you dreamed of achieving?

Salice: To do what I’m doing now. I always saw myself kind of being in the limelight. I didn’t know how I was gonna do it. I just knew that I wanted to do it.

Playboy: Awesome. What do you obsess about?

Salice: I obsess about working out and eating.

Playboy: Speaking of which…what do you eat when you’re feeling blue?

Salice: Pizza Rolls. Hot Cheetos. Anything with chocolate. Let’s see. I like Funyuns a lot. And Top Ramen!

Playboy: This might seem like a loaded question, but do you consider yourself a Hot Cheeto Girl?

Salice: No, I don’t. I used to. Not anymore.

Playboy: What is a talent you wish you had?

Salice: I wish I had to be able to get on stage and sing without getting nervous. That’s one of the only things in life, that makes me nervous. Is singing in front of people. I feel like I choke up and I sound crazy.

Playboy: Do you have any tricks to getting over stage fright?

Salice: Maybe take a shot of vodka, a little mimosa. I would say it’s good to also meditate, If you believe in that. Because you kind of learn to just breathe and get out of your head.

Playboy: What is the best piece of advice that you were ever given?

Salice: My mom would always say, “If you believe in something do it, and don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. Because if they tell you that, it just means that they can’t do it. So don’t let people’s projection actually work.” You know what I mean?

Playboy: Absolutely. What quality do you think is most desirable in a person?

Salice: How they are with other people. Because a lot of people…they are rude to servers for example. Or they’re just mean people overall, but nice of their family and friends. I would say how they are to people in general or strangers, really define who they are as a person.

Playboy: I am 1000% in agreement with you. If you’re rude to the server, you are rude in real life.

Salice: Exactly.

Playboy: What you consider your superpower to be?

Salice: Shit, let’s see. Okay, I’m gonna sound like a psychopath and I’m okay with it. But I’m really intuitive. I can feel things. I’m gonna sound like That’s So Raven, but I can feel things before they happen. And it happens to me 50 times a day. Whether it’s someone that’s gonna call me, or someone that’s gonna reach out. Not every little thing in life, of course.

Playboy: Okay, we gotta talk about that a little bit. Do you go into a trance the way that Raven does on the show?

Salice: I wish. No, I kind of get this thing in my head where I’m like, “Wouldn’t it be weird if my dad just reached out?” And he’ll reach out that same day. I could be just doing anything in the world and I’ll just think about something and it’ll most likely happen.

Playboy: I’m jealous. Describe the perfect slice of pizza.

Salice: A slice of pepperoni pizza from New York. Folded in half and just any pizza from New York is just great. Anything from Little Italy. It’s just super greasy. I love it.

Playboy: What’s your catchphrase?

Salice: My catchphrase…I don’t say it too often anymore. But I did this thing on social media for years straight where every morning I would go on my story and I’d be “Good morning, muthafuckahs!” And that shit just blew up. Then I just started selling merch with that.

Playboy: If there’s merch of it, that’s definitely a catchphrase.

Salice Rose: I mean…true.
