Why study history when you can play it?

Can a video game be educational? The jury is still out, but the answer is mostly: no. However, gaming experiences can still be absolutely engrossing. Playboy Playmate Khrystyana loves the impressive immersive qualities of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Why Khrystyana loves Assassin’s Creed Mirage

“I love the open world concept, because I just dissolve into the game and I feel like I’m really the character. So it’s almost like I can feel their body. Sometimes. I feel like I don’t even have to travel there, physically in my personal body, because if I’ve already been there in the game.”

Assassin’s Creed is a series 14 entries deep spanning all the way back to 2007. For the uninitiated, the story follows a secret society of freedom fighters called the Order of the Assassins in their constant struggle against the shadowy Knights Templar. The former fights for freedom, the latter, order. Adventures from the series span different periods of time, from Ancient Greece to Revolutionary America.

The series is steeped in history, featuring locations, events, and characters from the folks who shaped it. George Washington shows up at one point. So does Karl Marx. And no less than three Borgias!

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in Baghdad in the ninth century during the Islamic Golden Age. The action-adventure elements are much like the ones in every Assassin’s Creed game that precedes Mirage. There’s lots of stealth-based action, this time with a twist. The new “Assassin Focus” feature allows the main character to fell multiple enemies at once.

Khrystyana just started playing Mirage, but she won’t be putting it down anytime soon. One of the reasons the game, and the series appeals to her is because of a lifelong love of history.

“I would spend weeks in the library to studying history just for the sake of studying,” Khrystyana says. “Now I’m actually playing it, and it feels incredible.”
