Is “Bridge Over Troubled Water” secretly about heroin use? Is “Hotel California” about the state’s prison system? Who knows. Vague lyrics leave a lot to interpretation. Social media mega star Salice Rose loves the bold and abrasive lyrics of Saint Harison’s “ego talkin’.”

‘Ego talkin'” is the fourth song on Saint Harison’s 2023 album ‘lost a friend.’ The lyrics are as bold and borderline unhinged as Salice hints, a one sided argument from the singer’s perspective. The chorus is a plea, perhaps a little tongue-in-cheek: “Baby don’t roll your eyes, I’m still me, don’t listen to my ego talking I’m owning it tonight my ego, owning it tonight, my ego.”
Harison is a Southampton singer-songwriter who’s utilized the mobilizing power of social media and a natural musical talent into a full-fledged career. The name “Saint” comes from a nickname applied to all who hail from Southampton (sort of like “cheeseheads” and Wisconsin). According to an interview with Colors X Studios, Harison gets a lot of inspiration from a lot of the music he grew up with. This includes artists like Whitney Houston, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Barbara Streisand.
“ego talkin'” has more than 2.6 million plays on YouTube alone. He’s even performed it live on The Jennifer Hudson Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Aside from just being a great listen, Salice finds the song relatable.
“I can really relate when someone is being real and says the things that you want to say that you can’t,” says Salice.
