Playboy Club model Alyssa Magnum has a need for speed—just ask her, she’ll tell you—so its’s little wonder that her cool content is loaded with cool pictures of a cool girl hanging out with cool cars. From her home perch of Austin, Texas, the prolific creator and self-professed adrenaline junkie spoke with Playboy about automobiles, entrepreneurship, and mean bosses.
Playboy: Give us the hows, whens, and whys of your love affair with cars.
Alyssa: I first discovered exotic cars when I went to the COTA Karting racetrack here in Austin. It’s one of the larger F1 racetracks, and they have go-karts, but they’re advanced go karts that go up to 55 miles per hour. I went out there for a date, and I ended up racing, and I did really well. I discovered I have a need for speed, and I was like, You know what? I need a faster car. So I ended up buying a Supra, and that car was very fast. Then I joined some car groups here in Austin and became really into that community, so that’s how I ended up doing a lot of photo shoots with rare and exotic cars.
Playboy: Now give us the hows, whens, and whys of your adult content creation career.
Alyssa: I was a first responder for Austin; I was an EMT for close to seven years. Unfortunately, the city of Austin doesn’t pay first responders really well. [A few years into my stint], I met some girls who invited me on a trip to Costa Rica where they were going to do some content creation. They were taking all these exotic photos in the waterfalls, on horseback, and on fishing trips, and they were telling me that I should do it too.
I told them I didn’t want to dabble in erotic photos because I didn’t want to lose my job. But I was living paycheck-to-paycheck, and it got to the point where I had to look for other avenues of income. The city had promised us a pay increase to balance out inflation, so I held on for a few months waiting for that to happen. They only gave us a twenty-cent [per hour] raise, which was a slap in the face, so I joined the Playboy platform, as well as Only Fans and Chaturbate. And let me tell you this: I ended up getting my entire year’s salary working as an EMT in three months of doing adult content. I was able to buy my first house. It just completely changed my life.
Playboy: Did your bosses find out about it?
Alyssa: Yes. They told me I had to knock if off. I then told the chief, “Listen, I wouldn’t have had to do this if you guys would pay us more.” He told me we’d eventually get a [better] raise, then he said, “We have to protect the way that the society sees the city, and what you’re doing doesn’t align with our beliefs,” so they tried firing me over it. [After filing a lawsuit], I was able to keep my job, but it ended up being so much drama. I was harassed so much by other medics. Somebody who worked for the city of Austin—another medic, actually—bought all my content and then spread it massively throughout the department.
Playboy: That is fucked.
Alyssa: Unbelievably so. Every single call that I went on, it seemed like every first responder that was on scene would whisper in my ear, “I saw your photos.” I loved my EMT career, but this all had an impact on my mental health, so I had to resign. I’ve been [making a living with content] ever since.
Playboy: Switching it up, what are you obsessed about?
Alyssa: Speed. Being in a fast car, or in plane with turbulence, or roller coasters It actually turns me on during that initial G-force. That gets me so excited.
Playboy: What possession of yours do you treasure the most?
Alyssa: Well, I sold my Supra, so I’m gonna say my house. It’s a 22-year-old home, and I renovated it pretty much myself. I put my blood, sweat, and tears into it. I’m not gonna say I’m a pro, but I definitely try to problem-solve as much as possible.
Playboy: So you like to hop on YouTube and learn how to, say, fix a toilet?
Alyssa: Literally. And I sometimes end up making it worse. [Laughs]. Then I have to pay more to get it fixed.
Playboy: What was the last thing you Googled? And be honest!
Alyssa: Last night, I was looking up how to sell adult sex toys online.
Playboy: Yeah, that’s honest. Finally: if you were President, what would be your Secret Service designation?
Alyssa: Magnum P.I.!
