You may recognize Lauren Fontan from strutting the runway, but she also happens to be one of the Playboy Club’s earliest creators. Read what this Hawaiian-born beauty had to say in an interview with Gabriel Santiago.
Playboy: Let’s start at the beginning—where were you born & raised?
Lauren Fontan: I was born in Honolulu and then raised in Leesburg, VA. It’s about an hour outside of Washington, D.C. My dad was in the U.S. Navy, so we were originally stationed in Hawaii before moving to Virginia.
Playboy: Tell me some of the top aspects about living in Honolulu.
Lauren Fontan: Some of the allure to Hawaii is obviously the beaches and how beautiful they are. It’s the exact opposite of New York City. It’s so relaxing. It’s about enjoying the sun. You can snorkel, you can surf etc.
Playboy: Who are some of your personal heroes?
Lauren Fontan: Jennifer Lopez is definitely my biggest personal hero. I love her confidence. She also does philanthropic work, which is really awesome. JLo is a strong independent woman who also has an extremely caring heart, so she’s definitely a role model of mine.
Playboy: Not only are you a Playboy Club creator, but you’ve modeled for Vogue! What has that experience been like?
Lauren Fontan: It’s definitely been a huge bucket-list item to model for Vogue. My modeling career has had its first espresso, basically. It was a cool experience and absolutely amazing. Since May, my modeling career has really picked up, working Miami Swim Week, New York Fashion Week and runway modeling for big companies like Forever 21.
Playboy: Describe your ideal vacation with a romantic partner.
Lauren Fontan: An ideal vacation would definitely be somewhere in nature. I love the mountains. I love pine trees, cabins and bonfires. That would be absolutely amazing. Maybe we can add in some healthy food since I’m really into nutrition and fitness. But being out in nature, somewhere sunny, is always nice. I don’t want it to be raining, but somewhere in the mountains would probably be the best vacation.
Playboy: In the United States, autumn is for football. Do you have any favorite NFL or college teams?
Lauren Fontan: It’s definitely the Cowboys. I’m currently in Dallas, TX and we’re a huge sports town. There’s the Dallas Stars, Mavericks, Cowboys, Rangers. Everyone’s crazy about sports here. Still, the Cowboys are definitely my top team. They’re America’s football team. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are also something that I looked up to when I was little.
Playboy: How did your relationship with Playboy come to be?
Lauren Fontan: About a year and a half ago, I was sitting there on my couch thinking, ‘I wonder where the Playboy Bunnies went. How can I get involved with that?’ I had a lot of clothes from Playboy that I would purchase and stuff, so I did some digging and found the Playboy Club creator space. From there, I applied and I got accepted. The platform was still pretty new. I was one of the first creators on the app and that was super exciting.
Playboy: What are some things that make you feel most beautiful?
Lauren Fontan: I’m huge on being genuine and authentic. Oftentimes, being a beautiful girl, you focus a lot on how you do your makeup. That’s what other people focus on you as well, but something even better is working on your heart and just having a very genuine, authentic, non-selfish way of living. That makes me feel more beautiful than even having all my makeup done with a super cute outfit by a landslide.
Playboy: Upcoming, what should Playboy readers be on the lookout for from you?
Lauren Fontan: On the Playboy Club, I recently started going live four times per week, so I have a schedule that I pinned to the top of my page. I also do really cool themes! We did an island theme this past week, a lingerie theme the week before, so it’s really fun. I even have a lot of different cool things that I add to my livestreams which makes them very exciting. Just be on the lookout for the times I go live and the themes of the week!
Playboy: Lastly, can you walk me through “a day in the life of Lauren Fontan”?
Lauren Fontan: I’m definitely an introvert some days and other days, I’m super extroverted. It really just depends. I definitely love my sleep, so I love sleeping in. I’m super into nutrition, so I love cooking super healthy meals and staying on top of that. I also love being outside. Luckily, my apartment complex has a lot of beautiful trails nearby that I can walk down. It smells so good with the fall air now, so I love doing that. I also love reading and being with friends and family.
