In America, crepes are mostly known as Mr. Pancake’s thinner cousin from Europe. Still, this lighter, crispier circle of deliciousness offers both comfort and creativity.
Some like it hot, some like it sweet, and some like it savory. However, Cheyenne’s recipe for French crêpes offers instructions that anyone can follow … or customize!
Using a short list of groceries that you likely already have in your kitchen, follow along as Cheyenne Peach brings it all together.
To create the French crêpes:
Ingredients:
- 250 ml whole milk
- 125 grams flour
- 2 medium free-range eggs
- Butter (to melt in the pan)
Directions:
- Add the eggs and milk into a bowl and beat well with a whisk or fork.
- Slowly sift the flour into the bowl, whisking regularly to ensure no lumps and until the batter is of a smooth, thin consistency.
- Heat a pan, add butter until melted.
- Pour in enough batter to thinly cover the entire pan. Let it cook until bubbles start to form, then carefully flip it over to cook the other side until lightly golden brown (or to your preference).
Cheyenne’s preferred toppings:
- Lemon and honey
- Mashed banana, cinnamon, honey and Greek yogurt
- Gently heated strawberries with a touch of water to create a sweet strawberry sauce (you can also use whole strawberries) + cream
