Rebecca Adam’s Wonder Woman Cosplay Truly Inspires

Rebecca Adam
Liars beware: she brought her lasso.

Whether you ask certified comic book guys or casual action movie fans “Who’s your favorite female superhero?”, dollars to donuts, the answer will be Wonder Woman. The creation of DC Comics’ lead heroine is a storied one that’s worthy of a movie in itself. Playboy model Rebecca Adam’s take on Wonder Woman is easily our favorite take on the classic character.

Why Rebecca Adam Loves Wonder Woman

“I think Wonder Woman resonates with me because she’s this strong independent woman and she takes care of her shit,” Rebecca told Playboy. “Plus, I think the costume’s also very sexy.”

Rebecca’s adoration of the Wonder Woman has culminated in a yearly tradition. Around Halloween, she dons this iconic costume, which she accessorizes with her own Lasso of Truth. Unfortunately, Rebecca is still learning the ropes when it comes to lassoing properly. But once she masters it, it’s over for villains and fibbers alike.

Rope tricks aside, Rebecca loves the costume for one simple reason: it’s hot.

“It’s a cute little unitard, and it has my butt popping out,” Rebecca says. “I just feel powerful when I wear it.”

Who is Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman, when she’s not wrangling bad guys or flying in an invisible plane, is known as Diana Price who hails from the Amazonian state known as Themyscira. Instead of bogging down Wonder Woman’s background with comic book lore, let’s talk about her creator: William Moulton Marston.

Before conceiving of a female superhero, Marston invented the polygraph. It was only natural that Wonder Woman would be armed with a similar device; granted, hers is far more accurate than any run-of-the-mill lie detector. Marston, with the assistance of his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston, pitched the idea of the character to All-American Publications co-founder Jack Liebowitz. They imagined a female crime fighter who was unconventional, powerful, and most of all, liberated.

This doesn’t seem too farfetched compared alongside other comic book origin stories, but this was way back in the 1940s, decades before the second wave of the Feminist movement in the ’60s and ’70s. Aside from Rebecca, Wonder Woman has been portrayed famously by Lynda Carter in the late ’70s, and currently, by Gal Godot.
