Norway is ice cold, but Nordic Playboy Club Model Amalie Olufsen couldn’t be hotter. She sat down with us to chat about a lifelong love of hip hop, her dreams of becoming the next Pam Anderson, and her peculiar way of communicating with her dog.
PLAYBOY: To start us off, where are you from?
Amalie Olufsen: I’m from Norway, a super small town called Mo i Rana. It has, I don’t know, maybe 200 people? We’re really up north in the mountain, it’s super cold.
PLAYBOY: How was it like growing up in a super small town like that?
Amalie: To be honest, everyone knows everyone. There’s not much to do, obviously, but it’s super cozy and the nature around us is beautiful. But I’m super proud I was born there. For me, it’s always going to be home. But right now, I’m looking to move to LA.
PLAYBOY: What was the first thing you’ve ever dreamed of achieving?
Amalie: My dream has always been and still is to be a model and an actress. That’s the main goal, to be actress someday.
PLAYBOY: Is there a an actress who’s always inspired you?
Amalie: There are so many! Obviously, Angelina Jolie and Marilyn Monroe. And of course, Pamela Anderson was on the cover of PLAYBOY. And I’ve been on the cover, too. I really hope that I can follow what she did.
PLAYBOY: What are you passionate about?
Amalie: I am passionate about showing the world that women can show off their bodies and still be strong and independent. Ever since I started modeling, people have always said “It’s so hard, you will never achieve anything.” And it sounds really cheesy, but I believed in myself, and still do.
PLAYBOY: What turns you on/off?
Amalie: I love someone who achieves. Someone independent. People with a vision, who knows what they believe in and stands up for it. But also, someone who is confident, protects me, but who is also very kind. Also, humor. My God, if you’re funny? Then you got me.
PLAYBOY: Describe your perfect day.
Amalie: My perfect day is any day when I can do something really fun. Amusement parks. Roller coasters. Something that really gets you going. Anything spontaneous.
PLAYBOY: What is something that you own that you treasure?
Amalie: My dog. I love her. She is a Maltese, so cute. I’ve had her for two years, since she was a baby. She and I are so connected, and she understands everything that I’m saying—it’s crazy. Sometimes, I ask her “What do you think that I should do? Blink twice if you think that.” Some people think I’m the craziest dog mom, but it’s like I can really communicate with her. She’s just so cute, her name is Daisy.
PLAYBOY: That’s adorable. Do you believe in astrology?
Amalie: I’m a Scorpio, which is a super sexual sign. And we have a kind of sixth sense when it comes to knowing who people truly are. I’m also very transparent, and honest. And yes, a little childish too [laughs].
PLAYBOY: What was the last thing that you Googled?
Amalie: Oh that’s easy. Last night, I wanted to find out how to stream Brokeback Mountain. I watched it, I loved it, but I definitely cried.
PLAYBOY: It’s definitely a tearjerker. Who is a woman that inspires you?
Amalie: Marilyn Monroe. I have so many pictures of her. I’m in awe of all she did in her career, for women, for sexual freedom, and everything. She’s been my role model for ages since I was a kid.
PLAYBOY: What’s your favorite international destination to travel to?
Amalie: Definitely Los Angeles. The people are so open, and there’s so many creative souls. You can be whatever you want to be, do whatever you want, wear whatever you like. And it’s so funny, people are also always doing weird things but I love watching them express themselves.
I was doing some food shopping, and there was a guy who comes out of nowhere. And he starts talking to me like we’re really close friends. And when he was done talking, and I was thinking about the experience on the ride home, I thought “Actually, that was my best friend and now he’s gone.”
PLAYBOY: Wow. Are there any songs you’ve been listening to on repeat?
Amalie: I love that question. Because I’m so into hip-hop. It’s crazy. I love rap. And I think I’m gonna have to go with Frank Ocean, I’ll never be tired of him.
PLAYBOY: Are you a sports fan? I know soccer is huge in Norway.
Amalie: Actually, my brother Joachim Olufsen is a professional footballer. He plays for Vard Haugesund. And he’s really, really good. Always working so much and so hard. He’s my role model, truthfully.
