Not only is sports bettor Amanda Vance one of the sharpest handicappers in the nation, but her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers have officially started the 2024 NFL season at 3-0.
Like most folks in the gambling industry, Vance has kept receipts. Many “experts” and “analysts” were not expecting much from a Steelers team that had no definite answer at quarterback. Since then, a lower-body injury to Russell Wilson (calf) has opened the door for the younger, dual-threat Justin Fields.
On Sunday afternoon, Amanda took to her social media channels to do a victory dance of sorts. With Pittsburgh bullying the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3, the Steelers are undefeated while simultaneously holding the top spot in the AFC North.
To make Pittsburgh’s recent victory over the Bolts all the more sweet for Vance (an avid Ohio State supporter), the Steelers suffocated Los Angeles’ offense. Of course, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh (Michigan’s former golden boy) runs the offense. Naturally, Vance was sure to remind everyone of Fields’ success with the Buckeyes versus Harbaugh.
Despite the hot start out of Steel City, Pittsburgh has not played any divisional opponents to this point, nor will they until an NFL Week 11 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. Frankly, the Steelers have enjoyed a soft schedule out of the gate.
Along with the Chargers, they’ve also beaten the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos in 2024. We very well could see more victory dance videos from Amanda in the near future. Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Pittsburgh shows as an early Week 4 favorite at the Indianapolis Colts.
After a romp in Indy, the Steelers will then face (in order) the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, New York Giants and Washington Commanders. Depending how Washington does on Monday Night Football, there’s a chance that none of those teams are better than .500 entering Week 4.
The Steelers have mugged opponents into just 8.7 PPG over their first three games of 2024. Mediocre competition or not, this is the NFL, and Pittsburgh’s current defensive output is tops in the league. Former DPOY T.J. Watt has already compiled three sacks and five tackles for loss. Behind him, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Patrick Queen lead a ferocious unit.
The NFL – especially the AFC North – can be laborious and unpredictable. I’m sure Amanda Vance loves her squad’s chances. Despite Pittsburgh’s undefeated start, they are not receiving the most respect in the divisional market. With a 3-0 record, the Steelers are yielding +225 odds (at DraftKings) to win the AFC North, which is still behind the Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.
