Trump vs. Harris: What Do The Betting Odds Say?

IMAGO
There's less than two months until the 2024 presidential election. After the second debate, do the betting odds favor Trump or Harris?

Following Tuesday’s presidential debate in Philadelphia, PA, the political landscape is figuratively on fire. At this point, we are less than 60 days until the 2024 election. There are varying opinions on both sides of the aisle, but at this moment, are the betting odds in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris or former-President Donald Trump?

Finding The Markets

Right now, sports betting is a burgeoning industry. Its accessibility — now legal in 38 of 50 U.S. states and available on all smartphones — coupled with social media’s rampant coverage has created an exponential explosion over the past half decade. Simply, when it comes to the 2024 presidential election, yes, there are odds for that.

If it’s political probabilities or betting on other world events that you desire, Polymarket is a fair destination. Naturally, the first market featured on its home page is “Presidential Election Winner 2024.”

Trump vs. Harris Betting

On the heels of the presidential election cycle’s second and final debate, Polymarket asserts a 50% chance for Trump to return to the Oval Office, which implies +100 odds on the American moneyline. Incidentally, this same line yields a 49% chance — carrying +104 moneyline odds — for Harris to win the 2024 presidential race.

Considering that betting markets are partially indicative of the financial action previously received, the only takeaway here is that slightly more has been wagered on the 45th U.S. president (Trump) to resume the Commander-in-chief position.

As of Wednesday, Polymarket has taken a betting handle of $134.4 million on Trump. At the same shop, Harris has attracted $117.1 million to be the United States’ first female president.

Keep in mind there is no third presidential debate in 2024. With Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 5) swiftly approaching, the race has entered the “fourth quarter.” Please ensure that you are registered to vote!
