It doesn’t matter what part of the world you hail from – if you’re a teen who grew up in the early to mid ’00s, TheCW was your channel. And while One Tree Hill, Supernatural, and Gilmore Girls were hits in their own right, few shows resonated with savvy teens of the new Millennium like Gossip Girl. Playboy Club model Chloe Jane still has a soft spot for Gossip Girl after all these years. Here’s why.

Why Chloe Jane Loves Gossip Girl
“I come from a family of seven siblings,” Chloe Jane told Playboy. “Five of them are girls. We all just grew up watching Gossip Girl. My older sisters, when they were teenagers, they put it on TV for the first time, and we all watched it with our mom. Watching Gossip Girl feels nostalgic now, it reminds me of watching it together with my family.”
Gossip Girl is a teen drama that was one of TheCW’s earliest mega hits. It’s based on a series of novels by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show focuses on a gaggle of privileged teens who all attend an exclusive high school for blue bloods in the upper east side of Manhattan. The constant barrage of their drama is chronicled by an unknown blogger, simply known as Gossip Girl.

All the heartbreak, all the back stabbing, and all the typical juicy conflict viewers tune into teen dramas for is available in abundance here. But what sets Gossip Girl apart is the air of mystery surrounding it. Just who is the Gossip Girl cataloging the lives of these ornery teens with too much money? Eventually, their identity is revealed to the audience, but we don’t trade on spoilers here.
Gossip Girl is so popular there are adaptations of the show around the world. Thailand, Mexico, Indonesia, and even China all have their own version of Gossip Girl, because affluent teens and their drama is captivating across all cultures. Gossip Girl even got a soft reboot on Max that ran from 2001 – 2023, though it failed to capitalize on the original’s success.
For someone that grew up on an Australian island, Gossip Girl wasn’t just an engrossing show: it was #lifegoals.
“I was younger at the time when I watched it, so it will always stay with me,” Chloe said. “It probably sparked my interest in wanting to come to New York, too.”
