If you were alive in the Year of Our Lord 2003, you were likely at least semi-familiar with the Chad Michael Murray led coming-of-age drama known as One Tree Hill.
The show and its insanely catchy theme song by Gavin DeGraw was one of The WB’s (later TheCW) biggest hits, and still maintains a popular fanbase, including Playboy Creator Danielle Cohn.

Why Danielle Cohn loves One Tree Hill
“I feel like I love all the characters on it. I love the story lines and they’re just a show that I go to whenever I don’t know what to watch. I’ll be like, yep. Let me go watch that. One Tree Hill was created by Mark Schwahn, who also wrote the films Whatever it Takes, The Perfect Score, and Coach Carter. In fact, before selling the show, Schwahn had considered making a feature length film titled “Ravens,” which is the name of the basketball team prominently featured on the show.
The teen drama takes place in the fictional North Carolina coastal hamlet Tree Hill, and focuses on the rivalry between two half brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott.
Much of the conflict surrounds the Scott boys setting aside their familial spats to take their high school basketball team, the Tree Hill Ravens, to glory. Throw in a few complicated high school romances, soapy familial conflict, and exciting basketball choreography, and you’ve got a nine season hit.
For Danielle, the show remains a source of comfort and entertainment, and likely will remain that for years to come.
“Now that I think about it, I’m actually wearing a One Tree Hill shirt right now,” Danielle says, sporting a Ravens sweater. “Which is crazy. But I’m obsessed!”
