The Menendez Brothers murder case is one of the most grisly true crime stories of the 20th century. It’s full of twists, turns, and angles that would confuse even Columbo. Ryan Murphy’s dramatization of the case, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, is equal parts captivating and skin-crawling. Here’s why actress and Playboy Model Emelina Adams can’t get enough of the show.

Why Emelina Adams Loves Monsters
“I honestly didn’t even know about the case until I started watching,” Emelina told Playboy. “I have my degree in psychology, so I’ve always been really interested in learning how the mind works and what makes people tick and about different disorders and things like that.”
Ryan Murphy’s adapted both real and fictional American horror stories into TV shows. Monsters isn’t Murphy’s first foray into the true crime genre. In 2016, Murphy helmed the retelling of the OJ Simpson trial, followed by the Assassination of Gianni Versace in 2018. But Monsters is perhaps more grisly than both of these cases.

For many viewers, Monsters is the first time they learned of one of the bombshell revelations surrounding the case with regards to the Menendez patriarch Jose. No spoilers here, in case you plan on streaming the show yourself. However, the show has garnered new interest, as well as new advocates for the Menendez brothers.
Kim Kardashian is one of many advocating for their case to be retried. She’s even visited them in prison and engaged in long “intellectual” talks with the brothers.
“I love true crime and It’s crazy what happened, especially for me,” Emelina says. “I live really close to their house, so I kind of want to go drive by and see what it looks like.”
