Jessica Loves the Immersive Qualities of ‘Fallout’ TV Series

It's the end of the world as we know it, and she feels fine.

Ever since Bob Hoskins’ portrayal of everyone’s favorite plumber in the 1993 megaflop Super Mario Bros. video game adaptations have been dicey at best. And despite the occasional misstep, we’re living in an age of excellent movies and shows featuring great gaming IP. Despite some backlash, PLAYBOY model Jessica is one of many who adores the Fallout show on Amazon Prime. Here’s why.

Why Jessica Loves Fallout

“I love that it makes you feel a different perspective of the world from the Fallout games,” Jessica told PLAYBOY. “Like, on a deeper level. I’ve always played the games but the TV show makes me feel like I’m really a part of this world. It more interactive, to me.”

Considering how wildly popular the Fallout series is, it was only a matter of time before it became a movie. Of course, considering just how dense the lore of post-apocalyptic America is, prudent minds decided to flesh it out into a prestige TV series. Can you imagine cramming all of the Fallout story into a two hour movie? Nigh impossible.

For the uninitiated, Fallout takes place in the aftermath of a nuclear war, with much of society emerging from underground vaults. The wasteland is rife with mutated monsters, doomsday cults, and all manner of baddies you find after society has crumbled into dust. The protagonist of the series is a vault dweller known as Lucy MacLean, who assembles a ragtag team of gunslingers, ghouls, and gunslinging ghouls to rescue her kidnapped father.

It’s bleak, it’s action-packed, and its occasionally a fairly charming romp, and an incredibly popular one at that. By October 2024, Amazon reported the series garnering more than 100 million views. The second season is currently in development, with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin cast in an undisclosed role.

Despite the popularity, fans of the gaming series are less than pleased with the adaptation.

“I know some Fallout fans will say it’s not exactly like the game, but I thought it was wonderful,” Jessica says. “The sets, the CGI, it’s all really well done.”
