Another classic Westerosian tale finally gets told.

While you recover from last night’s House of the Dragon season two finale, you can rejoice that there will soon be more palace intrigue, sword bouts, and yes, dragons in the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff. A new trailer released by Max gives fans the first look of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is the long-awaited adaptation of the “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” a series of novellas that take place in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire.

The reveal encompasses less than six seconds of the Max showcase, but it does reveal the legendary Knight Sir Duncan the Tall—the titular Dunk—played by actor Peter Claffey. Opposite Claffey will be child actor Dexter Sol Ansell, who will play Aegon “Egg” Targaryen.

The story is full of George R.R. Martin style chestnuts including rising from humble origins to greatness, tutelage of a stubborn noble, and some surprising glimpses at the realities of life in a feudal society.

Will the future King Aegon V Targaryen learn true leadership squiring for Ser Duncan the Tall? Or will their friendship sour into a cataclysmic battle for the ages? The answer, especially considering recent House of the Dragon happenings, may surprise you!

The show will also feature actors including Bertie Carvel as Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen, Finn Bennett as Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, and Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon.

Aside from the brief—and glorious—A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms first look, the trailer teases plenty of other shows and specials coming in late 2024 and 2025 including IT: Welcome to Derry, Penguin, Gilded Age Season 3, And Just Like That... Season 3, and perhaps most anticipated, The Last of Us Season 2.

The six-episode season one of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiers on Max in 2025.
