The competitive monster battling series Pokémon is as ubiquitous to gaming as Mario and Sonic, and is just as popular now as its meteoric debut. Like any successful property, it’s also got its share of spinoffs, including the multiplayer mobile battler Pokemon Unite. Playboy Creator Mizzimie is a Pokémon diehard, and can’t stop playing this pick-up-and-play hit.

Why Mizziemie loves Pokémon Unite
“It’s really easy to just pick up and play,” Mizzimie told Playboy. “It’s a mobile game where you can battle five versus five.. So you’re in a team and you find another team at random. Of course, you get a cute little Pokémon, and you get to attack and you get to protect and all that fun stuff.”
Like Pokémon Go before it, Pokémon Unite is yet another addictive mobile title that supplements the main line releases on Nintendo consoles. Many of the same mechanics that started in the original games are present here.
Teams of five start off with weaker monsters, and watch them grow over the course of a 10 minute bout. As weak Pokémon train, they unlock new moves and abilities, which helps trainers catch wild monsters, and ultimately knock out opponents ‘mons.
Like any great MOBA, the game receives regular updates and special events for players to battle in. While Mizzimie has a soft spot in her heart for the Generation I darling Eevee, her favorite Pokémon at the moment is from the newest mainline entry, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
“I love Sprigatito, this green cat, because–oh my god!” Mizzimie said. “It’s two of my favorite things: the color green and cats!”
