Soap operas are a genre that predate television. After all, they’re called “soap operas” due to the fact that many radio dramas were usually sponsored by soap companies. And while the genre can be corny, over-dramatic, and even fantastical in nature, it’s time-honored for a reason. Playboy Club model Vicky Vybes is one of many viewers who are still captivated by The Young and the Restless. Here’s why.

Why Vicki Vybes loves The Young and the Restless
“You just watch every single episode and there’s always some type of drama going on and you can’t help but be hooked on it,” Vicki told PLAYBOY. “You’re just like, ‘What’s going to happen next?’ I really need to know.’ And then it’s over and it’s the weekend. You have to wait until Monday and you’re like, ‘Shit!.'”
When you think of soap operas, The Young and the Restless is likely the first one that comes to mind. The name recognition alone has cemented this show in the annals of daytime TV history. Originally, the show focused on the lives and the never-ending drama in two different families: the wealthy Brooks and the working class Fosters.

Since then, there have been many other families introduced into ever-expanding plotlines. It’s also an acting proving ground, where many household names make their bones. Eva Longoria, Shemar Moore, Paul Walker, David Hasselhoff, and even Tom Selleck got their start on Y&R.
Over the years, the show has become so iconic it’s gotten its share of celebrity cameos including Katy Perry, Enrique Iglesias, and even Wayne Gretzky. And don’t get me started on milestones.
How many shows do you know have more than 50 seasons to their name? This accounts for 13,000 episodes over more than half a century of television. For the incredibly busy Vicki Vybes, she does what many busy soap fans do: record The Young and the Restless all week and binge it all on the weekend.
“I just can’t wait until the weekend, when I can watch my stories,” she says.
