In a world where more information is available than any of us will ever need, the state of our mental health is uniquely challenged in a way it never has been before. This is especially true for influencers and content creators, who get an enormous amount of feedback – with much of it being negative or even cruel in nature. In this series, we talk to Playboy’s creators about how they handle that attention and what they do to make sure they stay mentally healthy.
Dalanie DiSabato is not only a Playboy creator, but also inhabits the world of viral fame. In 2022, she became known as “Romper Stomper” after going viral for a video of her defending her mother from a bully at a concert. With hundreds of thousands of followers across her Instagram and TikTok, Dalanie has a big world to navigate every day. Here’s how she pulls it off.
Playboy: What does mental health mean to you?
Dalanie DiSabato: Mental health means maintaining emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which affects how we think, feel, and act in our daily lives.
Playboy: Do you struggle with any mental health challenges? If so, what are they?
Dalanie: Yes, I sometimes struggle with anxiety and stress. I’m constantly worrying about whether or not I’m doing the right thing.
If people are still interested in what I’m doing, how to keep people engaged, how to continue to grow my social media accounts. And on top of that, men stress me out.
Playboy: What resources do you use to manage your own mental health?
Dalanie: I use mindfulness apps, exercise regularly, and seek support from friends and family.
Playboy: Who do you admire in the mental health space?
Dalanie: Taylor Swift’s bravery in consistently performing live demonstrates a level of courage and dedication that is inspiring to me. Watching her confidently take the stage night after night has become a source of comfort for my own mental health.
It’s a reminder of the power of perseverance and passion, encouraging me to face challenges with resilience and positivity.
