Visit any nerdy convention, and you can get a good idea of the hit shows, movies, and games of the moment simply by looking around at cosplay. Timeless characters like Chun-Li, Faye Valentine, and Sailor Moon abound, but the quirky demons of Hazbin Hotel are having a bit of a moment. And massively popular cosplayer Pinkchyu’s take on fan-favorite Alastor is hotter than hellfire.
Why Pinkchyu loves Alastor
“It’s currently one of my favorite shows that has amazing musicals and gorgeous art style reminiscent of shows like Invader Zim,” Pinkchyu told PLAYBOY. “Alastor has a menacing feel to him that makes him a more interesting character design.”
Pinkchyu fashioned the Alastor cosplay herself, but the hairpiece was made from scratch. She fashioned together a couple different wigs with ears to make the cosplay’s hair look exactly like Hell’s most charismatic overlord.

Naturally, she accessorizes with an old-timey radio microphone attached to a cane, similar to the one Alastor uses to broadcast his voice as The Radio Demon. Pinkchyu’s cosplay is a testament to her love of the show, which she recommends everyone watch.
“The creator started it as a passion project and it blew up, rightfully so,” Pinkchyu says.

Who is Alastor from Hazbin Hotel?
As Pinkchyu touched on, Hazbin Hotel is a labor of love that started on YouTube way back in 2019. Animator Vivienne Madrano, also known as VivziePop, garnered more than 10.6 million subscribers and a whopping 1.5 billion views. The show was picked up by Prime Video, and it premiered on January 24, 2024, setting new global premier records on Amazon’s streaming service.
In the hit show, Alastor serves as one of Hell’s powerful overlords, but he’s down to assist series protagonist Charlie Morningstar with her new progressive rehabilitation of damned souls. However, Alastor, helpful as he may be, is still very much a demon, and feels redemption is laughably impossible. As the facility manager of the titular hotel, Alastor not only oversees staff, but protects Morningstar from outside threats. He’s also one helluva dresser, pun heavily intended.
