What’s the best cuisine in the world, and why is it Italian food? Is there truly any argument to be had here? The country shaped like a boot is worth traveling to for the carbonara alone, but Playboy Creator Danielle Cohn finds Rome far more than a destination for a tasty meal.
Why Danielle Cohn loves Rome
“I went to Italy about two years ago for my birthday…Rome and Positano,” Dani told Playboy. “Do you ever travel to a place and feel like you belong there? I just loved the people there. The food…the pasta. Everything was just so beautiful.”
Of all the European capitals, few are stuffed to the brim with history like Rome. The Colosseum smacks of the bread and circus that the Roman Empire dished out to the masses. And like most European capitols, the city is lousy with museums, including the Galleria Borghese. It houses works from world renowned artists and sculptors including Caravaggio and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
If you’re religious (and even if you’re not), the Sistine Chapel is not only an architectural and artistic marvel, but a spiritual one as well.
And then there’s the food in Rome, which is nothing to scoff at. Riccardo Di Giacinto’s All’Oro is one of countless Michelin starred restaurants in the city. With the Italian word for gold in its title, you can bet on a delicious and memorable meal.
If you’re looking for a destination that’s less tourist trap than Rome, Positano is an excellent choice. It’s a village off the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno with scenic views and a temperate climate.
Dani’s Italian trip was one that stayed with her, and it was, pun-heavily intended, romantic.
“And it almost didn’t feel real, like one of those places that looks straight out of a movie,” Dani said. “That’s why I was obsessed with it.”
