If you’re reading this, you should make a mental note. You’ll be able to tell your friends and family “I knew Cristiana Love before she made it big.” The musician and Playboy model is currently working on her first album, which will release next year. She sat down with us to discuss her start in the music industry, the ins and outs of her star chart, and yeah, even her go-to McDonald’s order.
Playboy: So to start us off, where were you born?
Cristiana Love: San Diego. It’s a sleepy little beach town. I grew up there for 18 years, but I live in Los Angeles now.
Playboy: What did you most enjoy in school?
Cristiana: Competitive sports. I used to swim a lot in high school, that was really cool. I’m a pretty decent swimmer.
Playboy: What are you passionate about?
Cristiana: Singing and music. I’m about to put out my album.
Playboy: That’s awesome. Can you tell us about how you got into music?
Cristiana: When I was 18, I auditioned for a girl group. And they plucked me out and moved me to LA. And so from 18 to about 20, I kind of started my music journey. In the process I learned how to do music abut also learned how I wanted to do it. Because I was in a pop group, but I’m more so in the R&B and hip-hop genre.
Playboy: Your latest single, “Big Mac,” is a bit of an earworm. Can you tell me what inspired it?
Cristiana: I just wanted to be more of myself. So, I wanted to show my spunky, funny, witty side and really speak my truth. I’m wild and free. In my whole journey through the industry I never really said what I wanted.
And a lot of people, when I started my music career, they’re like “You can’t transition from being in the sex work industry to music. It’s impossible.” And I was just like, “Why not?” Kim [Kardashian] inspired the song cuz…if Kim can go from a sex tape to a owning billion dollar company, why can I not live my dream of singing? Same thing with Cardi B, Summer Walker, SZA.
Playboy: There’s countless examples.
Cristiana: Right, exactly!
Playboy: That said, when Cristiana Love pulls up to a McDonald’s drive-thru, what is she going to order?
Cristiana: I love that. I’m going to get a Big Mac with a large fry. And I know it’s lame, but I’ll get it with a water for the drink.
Playboy: What quality do you find most desirable in a person?
Cristiana: Intelligence and humor.
Playboy: What’s your superpower?
Cristiana: My brain. I’m quite smart.
Playboy: If we can speak to that for a second…aside from music, is there something that you just know a lot about?
Cristiana: I’m really into astrology. I will read your birth chart. Like on first dates, I’m going to ask for your birth time. I’m really just that bitch. It really matters to me. I’ve got to know.
Playboy: Can you tell me your three big signs?
Cristiana: I am a Gemini sun, Virgo moon, and I’m an Aries rising.
Playboy: That is a chaotic mix.
Cristiana: I know, my God! And my other three…my Venus and Mars, they’re both fire and I’m like, “Wow, great. That’s the kicker there.” I’m just thankful that I have the Virgo, to give a little balance.
Playboy: You’ve got three singles under your belt right now. Is there an album in the works?
Cristiana: Yes. Correct. It’s coming next year, Spring of ’25.
Playboy: Do you have a name picked out?
Cristiana: No, not yet. I don’t want to pick a name until it’s fully completed and I can really be like, “Okay, this is it.” Cuz right now, I’m like, “I just don’t have it yet.”
Playboy: Do you have any dream collabs?
Cristiana: Probably Cardi B.
Playboy: That’s a good one. And aside from your album, what’s next for Cristiana Love?
Cristiana I think just kind of a rebrand, and showing more of my personality. Just showing more of who I am and kind of switching up the style. I want to do a lot more talking on Insta and all my platforms. And then more music of course, literally just let it rip. I think you can expect some shows in the future.
