We sat down with Playboy Club creator Alix Lynx, to learn more about what makes her tick. From her illustrious porn career to her love of Alice in Wonderland, Alix lays it all out.

Playboy: Where were you born?

Alix Lynx: I was born in Burlington, Vermont. I grew up near the Adirondacks in upstate New York, and I have such a hate relationship with it. I just had this burning in my soul to get out of there.

I just felt that my avatar didn’t align. Some people love it, but for me, I just always had this desire to get out because I felt like I didn’t belong there.

Now I have a new appreciation for it. I really appreciate the nature there because I live in New York City now and it’s nice to go home and be able to get outside and unplug, especially in the summer and the fall with all the changing colors.

Playboy: What was growing up in Vermont like?

Alix Lynx: I grew up in a pretty sheltered environment. It had its ups and downs. I was exposed to partying in high school, but minimal compared to a lot of other friends. And I got really good grades. I was really well-rounded. I was involved in a lot of extracurriculars.

It was a pretty normal upbringing, I would say, and I think it did have to do with the small town environment that I was raised in. I remember thinking that I needed to get out of there and move to LA.

I don’t know why, but I ended up sticking around in that area for college because I graduated high school early and didn’t really know what I wanted to do… and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money.

I immediately went down to the New York City area, got a real job, hated that, and then moved out to LA after four years.

After six years in LA, the Covid pandemic brought me back to the East coast. When everything shut down, I was living alone, sequestered, and frightened. I thought “What’s the one place in the world where I’m going to be safe and nothing’s going to happen to me? I’m going right back to where I came from.”

I needed to go somewhere where I could be outside and be around less people, and I had more space and more freedom.

Playboy: Where is your favorite place to travel to?

Alix Lynx:  I don’t know if I have a specific place, but more it’s like the vibe. I am a beach girl through and through. Give me white, sand palm trees, and a clear blue warm salt water ocean and I’m happy.

I am just really particular to the Caribbean. I love it so much. I went to a really nice resort in the Dominican Republic last year and that has by far been my favorite vacation. It was just stunning.

Playboy: What was the first thing that you dreamed of achieving?

Alix Lynx: An actress – I always wanted to be an actress. I didn’t know in what format, but I was just always a little ham in front of the camera.

When I was four or five, my dad had that giant camcorder and I would always be leaping in front of it doing all these twirls and dancing. I’ve always been a performer at my core.

Playboy: How did you become a Creator?

Alix Lynx: Well, I went to college and got an undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism and an MBA because that’s what I was ‘supposed’ to do and I didn’t know any better.

I was just like ‘this is what you do,’ so I didn’t question it. I was in Westchester County outside of New York City very early in my 20s and I was working a desk job at a PR/marketing company.

I’m such a free spirit. very self-expressive, very artistic, entrepreneurial and I just felt like something was wrong with me because I hated sitting at this desk. I felt like I was trapped.

I got laid off from my first job and I was devastated, but it was a blessing in disguise because that’s when I realized I can’t rely on anybody to employ me. What I wanted in my next job was to be able to be remote and on my own terms.

So, I basically started freelancing as a social media manager working from home. That was my little intro to working for myself, working online, and working from home.

Then, I’m at a party and I’m talking to one of my guy friends who, just off the cuff, was just talking to me about webcam models and cam girls and how he was on these websites. He said “Oh my God, they must be so successful just sitting around talking on cam.’”

He didn’t realize this, but that was a light bulb moment for me. I ended up signing up for MyFreeCams within the next few days and I loved it. During that time, I was still working as a social media manager so it’s kind of like a Hannah Montana vIbe, and eventually I was making enough money on cam where I could quit.

Playboy: How did you transition into doing adult films?

Alix Lynx: I just wanted to be free and do what I wanted, and it was a really big moment for me because I knew that if I started doing this there was no going back.

I knew it would shut a lot of other doors for me, so I had to sit with that for a bit. But then I was like, “I don’t care – let’s go!” You only get one life. So I began webcamming full-time for a little over a year.

I saw a lot of the girls were doing shoots for Playboy, Twisty’s, and others so I thought I should maybe do that and get more fans to my cam site. Then I got into adult film and did that for about six years.

When I started in porn, I was 25 and was just going to do girl on girl – very soft stuff. I found an agency for adult films and I contacted them. I sent them pics and they said they liked what they saw and asked me to go out to LA.

I ended up going back and forth often, getting bookings for a few months and living in their condo, and then I moved out to LA full-time. During that time, I had been on OnlyFans producing my own content because that’s all I knew to do.

So, aside from going to set, I was always producing my own scenes and I loved every aspect of it. When Covid happened, I didn’t want to work with anybody else so I just started focusing heavily on being a Creator on different platforms.

Not only was I doing a lot better financially and mentally, I was just really fulfilled being a full-time Creator.

Playboy: What turns you on and what turns you off?

Alix Lynx: Sexually,  if I really want to be turned on I have to have a strong emotional connection with the person – and  I think this is true for a lot of women.

Even if I’m just meeting someone, you feel when there’s a vibe. There’s got to be a vibe. And at this point in my life I’m much more picky. But I think just having an emotional connection is huge for me because you can be the most good looking guy or woman in the world, but if there’s nothing up there then I personally can’t really vibe with that.

And my turn off is just people who are not in tune with you and just there to hook up –  they’re just jackrabbits and don’t care about how I’m feeling. That’s a pretty big turn off. Just feel out what your partner wants.

Playboy: What book or movie makes you deeply happy?

Alix Lynx:  “Alice in Wonderland” is my favorite movie of all time. Anything by Tim Burton is my Holy Grail. I’m obsessed. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan. As for books, I’m really big into personal development, so I’m a Tony Robbins nerd. I also love Brene Brown.

Playboy: What would make you ghost someone you’re dating?

Alix Lynx: This is a tricky question because I have such a pet peeve when it comes to ghosting –  think it’s such a cop out. I believe in being straight up.

But, an instance where I would maybe ghost would be that in the past I’ve had guys be kind of obnoxious and incessant. It’s cute to a degree, but when you ask to hang out incessantly it becomes too much. I’m like “Back up buddy, calm down.”

I appreciate persistence, but when it gets to be too much then I get really turned off.

Playboy: What type of art do you like to create?

Alix Lynx: My scenes. I’m so proud of my scenes, especially when I first got into full-on Creator mode. Even in the past, I had produced my own scenes but more like amateur style.

I have one director who I collaborate with – his name is Ivan – and he’s wildly talented. We both have the same vision and both like doing off-the-cuff, kind of trippy stuff, things that are very surreal. We did a clown strip club scene that was really colorful, bright and just weird and unique.

I did a solo scene with a bunch of stuffed flowers and things that wouldn’t be real life. I guess I really take it to the next level.

To this day, I collaborate with him and he really helps me bring the vision in my head to life. You can really get a sense of that if you go to my Instagram. I like a theme, I’ll find a cool location, and I love every aspect of it. I love finding the location, I love styling, and I do all my own hair and makeup the majority of the time.

I’ll pick out a vibe as far as the outfits and jewelry, and then I decide what other talent, if any, would be the best fit for that type of scene. It’s kind of a rigorous process and I’m really into it.

I studied broadcast journalism in college, so that teleprompter, on-camera and video editing experience has really come in handy. I also have an MBA, so that helps me manage my business.

Playboy: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Alix Lynx: Growing up, my mom told me to only rely on myself. Personally, I believe you shouldn’t have the attitude that you’re just going to marry rich and not be responsible for anything.

No – have your own shit together. Have your own money, have your own thing going on, and then you can connect with other people. It’s more so: get your life together, have your own back, and be your own security and stability.

Don’t look for that in somebody else. Be independent. That’s how I roll, anyways.

Playboy: Who is a person that inspires you?

Alix Lynx: I don’t know if there’s anyone in particular, but I will say the archetype of person who inspires me are people who just live blinders up not caring about societal norms and kind of deviating from that path and forging their own path.

I have nothing but respect for those kinds of people because it takes a lot of hard work, discipline, and mental fortitude to be able to do so.

Playboy: What is your favorite thing to splurge on?

Alix Lynx: Convenience and travel. I love to stay in nice places when I travel, and I like to have my flight be a really comfortable and elevated experience because then I can function better as a person.

I splurge on stuff like Uber Eats, a dog walker for my dog Aspen, and those kinds of things.

Playboy: What is a meme or viral video that spoke to you recently?

Alix Lynx: To this day, I always say this is my spirit animal – I don’t know if you’re familiar with crap taxidermy, which is funny because I’m vegan, but it’s like this stuffed white cat that’s sitting there with this face that makes me feel seen.

You’ll have to look it up. And then there’s the other one that’s a fox and it’s just sitting at the edge of a bed with a real expression.

Playboy: What is your favorite job you’ve done as a Creator?

Alix Lynx: This is wild actually – I’m obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, again it’s one of my favorite things of all time because I just really resonate with it.

I ended up getting booked with Brazzers several years ago on a shoot that I think I manifested because it was a cancellation and I was filling in, but it was called “Alix’s Off The Wall” and it basically had me in this weird-looking room where it looked like the floor was the wall.

It looked like I was climbing up the wall and it was really artistic. There was music over it, which was super fun for me. That’s the kind of stuff I like to do. So that’s by far, to this day, one of my favorite scenes.

Playboy: What’s your advice to Creators just starting out?

Alix Lynx: I just turned 35 and I think there’s this thing with age. I think it’s a little bit different now just because of the world we’re living in where anyone can be a Creator, but I feel like I’m just getting started.

I know some wildly successful, vibrant, youthful women who are well in their late 30s, 40s, even 50s, and they’re just killing it.

So I think especially with a profession that involves much of your looks and everything like that, know that you’re good – you’re not going to tap out when you’re 30, I promise you.

I feel like I’m just getting started.

Playboy: What is something that you’d change about the world?

Alix Lynx: If you look at my avatar, you’d see that I’m blonde and have big, fake tits. But I have a Master’s degree. I’m pretty smart.

I think people sometimes underestimate what women can do, just basing them off what they see at a surface level. Don’t consider for a minute that a woman can’t be both pretty and smart. That a woman can care about her looks and be very feminine, but also, at the same time, have a side where she’s a boss, has her shit together, and is an intelligent contributing member to society.

I think that I see that all the time. I battle against that stigma and assumption by living my life. I’m a walking example of “That’s not fucking true.”
