Q&A: Danielle Cohn

Playboy Club creator Dani Cohn dishes on why she loves tarot cards, astrology, and her Italian Greyhound.

Playboy Club creator Danielle Cohn adores art, travel, her dog, and the pleasure of going on a good shopping spree. We get to know her better in our exclusive Q&A.

Playboy: To start us off, where were you born?

Danielle Cohn: I was born in Orlando, Florida. I moved to California when I started doing social media, and I lived there for about six years.

Then I came back to Florida because I just realized that California was not it for me. I would rather be back at home.

Playboy: What did you most enjoy in school?

Danielle Cohn: I was always really into art. I know it’s not like your typical school subject. I love sketch work. So in my free time, whenever I just have some time to myself or just want to call myself down, I’m always sketching that’s like what I love to do.

Playboy: What are some things that you find yourself sketching a lot?

Danielle Cohn: I do a lot of spiritual sketches. I draw a lot of tarot cards. I’m a reader myself. So I always kind of like to draw those. I draw a lot of butterflies, too.

Playboy: What got you into tarot reading?

Danielle Cohn: My great grandma was a tarot reader. I grew up in a really spiritual household. She ended up teaching me at really young age how to read cards, and so I always knew how to read just using a normal deck of cards.

Playboy: What card in the tarot deck you most identify with?

Danielle Cohn: I’m such a lover girl at heart. I’m obsessed with romance. All I love to do is watch romance movies or read poetry books about love and things like that. So I feel like the Lovers card is always just one that I’m obsessed with from the deck. It’s just my favorite card personally.

Playboy: Is there a card that you hate to pull for yourself?

Danielle Cohn: Not really. I always kind of try to think about it in a way…whatever I need to be told I’m gonna get told. There’s nothing I really don’t like about any card, if that makes sense.

Playboy: What makes you happiest?

Danielle Cohn: I would say just kind of being at peace with myself. I’m really big about my own happiness and—how do I say this? I really love to do things for myself.

I really love being with my friends and family. I always say the small things in life make me the happiest. It doesn’t need to be anything extravagant, just hanging out with a friend at their house or cooking dinner with my friends.

Playboy: To that end, what’s your favorite thing to cook?

Danielle Cohn: Pasta from scratch. I’m always making different recipes for my family to try. I just love pasta. That’s my favorite. I also really love making homemade chicken tenders. I’ll make my own sauce from scratch and then fry the chicken tenders myself.

Playboy: What’s one of your favorite places to travel to?

Danielle Cohn: I went to Italy about two years ago for my birthday…Rome and Positano. Do you ever travel to a place and feel like you belong there? I just loved the people there.

The food…like I said, pasta. Everything was just so beautiful. And it almost didn’t feel real, like one of those places that looks straight out of a movie. That’s why I was obsessed with it.

Playboy: What’s your most treasured possession?

Danielle Cohn: My dog. She is an Italian greyhound and her name is Cora. She’s my little baby and I literally can’t be away from her if I travel for a week. I will start crying because I miss her too much.

Playboy: What’s your favorite thing to splurge on?

Danielle Cohn: I have a weird obsession with always buying new things for my room. I constantly want to redecorate my room or just add new things.

I’ll go into Home Goods or Marshalls or Target. I’ll go in there just to get new towels for my bathroom, and I’ll come out with a brand new setup for my room. And it’ll be $300, $400 later and I’ll be like, “What did I just spend this on?”

Playboy: What quality do you think is most desirable in a person?

Danielle Cohn: I would say I’ve always been somebody that values respect. Not just someone who respects me, but how they respect and treat the people around them.

Playboy: What food do you reach for when you’re feeling sad?

Danielle Cohn: Chocolate. It can be chocolate ice cream or a chocolate bar. Literally anything. It’s always chocolate. Do you know the brand Dove? I really love that brand. But I can eat something like a Hershey’s bar and be satisfied too. That’s always something that never got old for me.

Playboy: What’s a talent you wish you had?

Danielle Cohn: I would say maybe to be able to play some sort of instrument. I’ve always loved music. I think it’s mostly because Bridgerton just came out, and the show uses a lot of violin. It’s just made me so jealous of the people that play. I really wish I could play violin and do that because it just sounds so beautiful.

Playboy: Do you believe in astrology?

Danielle Cohn: Yes! So, I’m a Pisces and I like to believe that I literally was meant to be a Pisces. if anything happens in my life. I blame it on me being a Pisces. I’m always looking at my chart, and other people’s charts, too. I think it plays a big part in who you’re compatible with. I just love astrology.

Playboy: Describe your perfect slice of pizza.

Danielle Cohn: I really love a pizza with a lot of vegetables. It can have onions, peppers, even jalapenos. I love jalapenos on everything. I’m actually one of those people who likes pineapple on my pizza. I know that’s a big thing with people but, yeah.

Playboy: Who was the first fictional character you fell in love with?

Danielle Cohn: Max from “A Goofy Movie.” He was so thoughtful and romantic to the girl in the movie. And I don’t know, but when I was younger, I thought it was so cool when a character would sing. When he went to the Powerline concert and performed, I was like “God, he’s so cute.”

To this day, when I go to Disney World with my family, we always freak out when we see him. He doesn’t come out much, but when he does, I’m always like “My God…”
