As celebrity after celebrity made their way down the red carpet for the Primetime Emmy awards, one in particular caught my attention, not only for his ensemble but because his skin was radiant and dewy: Dan Levy.
Levy (Schitt’s Creek) wore a stunning Loewe look with a distinctive collar. Every image I saw of the actor/writer was cropped in tightly to include the collar and his sleek black glasses.
Knowing the internet would be obsessed with his face-framing look, Levy and his team selected the right products to ensure his face was hydrated and glowing. I kept refreshing Twitter and Instagram until I could track down the person responsible for making his skin glow and, after some digging, I found my answer for his camera-ready appearance. I was pleasantly shocked to find out I already own or have tried several of the products used to create his glass-skin goals look.
Laila Hayani is a men’s grooming artist with a slew of editorial credits and celebrity clients, including Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), and Jeremy Strong (Succession), just to name a few. Hayani has worked with Levy for quite some time, based on her Instagram feed, so she understands how his red carpet looks always catch the attention of best-dressed lists and, thus, his skin must be impeccable. Let’s dive into the products she used.

Dermalogica BioLumin-C Night Restore Serum
According to New Beauty, to prep the skin before the big day, Hayani recommends using Dermalogica’s BioLumin-C Night Restore Serum, which restores the moisture barrier and aids in improving skin tone. One five-star Amazon review raves, “My face feels so silky and plump in the morning.”
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
On the day of the Emmys, Hayani started her process with a product I have been using for years: the Special Cleansing Gel for years. I have extremely reactive skin, but this product removes impurities, all while being soap-free and pH-balanced, to provide a gentle yet soothing cleanse.
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
Another product I personally use, this powerful yet gentle exfoliator includes key ingredients like salicylic acid, phytic acid, and colloidal oatmeal to remove surface debris and ready the skin to absorb the rest of the products.
I use this one to two times per week as my physical exfoliant.
Pro-tip: Get the travel size and bring it with you on every vacation or work trip. This will allow your skin to effectively hydrate when you’re not at home with your normal routine and products.
Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum
This high-performance serum features a vitamin C complex that will brighten the skin. Lactic acid even outs hyperpigmentation and chia seed oil protects the skin with antioxidants.
Dermalogica Active Moist
This is a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer with a prebiotic moisture complex, cucumber, lemon, and burdock extracts. It’s clearly a popular product, with over 2,350 five-star ratings, with reviewers calling it the “best hydrating lotion I’ve ever used.”
Dermalogica Phyto-Nature Lifting Eye Cream
Rounding out the regimen is the Dermalogica Phyto-Nature Lifting Eye Cream, which is packed full of multi peptides, quinoa seed extract, astragalus, and electric daisy flower. This eye cream deeply hydrates to provide a lifted, smooth look for your eyes and eyelids.
If all of these products, and their prices, make you skeptical then I recommend just one: the Special Cleansing Gel. I have the 16.9 fl. oz. bottle and buy the refill satchels, which will save you a few bucks each time you pick them up. This product truly leaves my skin clean, but not tight, and ready for all of my other products.
