The influence of Taylor Swift has transcended the NFL. Does the pop megastar have her sights on MLB next?

Taylor Swift is one of the most successful recording artists of the 21st Century. However, thanks to her romantic relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Swift is now a household name around the NFL, too.

Of course, Taylor Swift possesses the sort of star power that can transcend almost any arena. With Kelce and the Chiefs off for a bye week in mid October, Swift and her beau took the opportunity to grace the MLB community.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Yankee Stadium

The American League Championship Series started Monday. Swift and Kelce were present in the Bronx for Game 1 between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians. Kelce — a native of Cleveland Heights — and Taylor were spotted sharing a Yankee Stadium luxury box, and naturally, the TBS television cameras were sure to focus directly on the power couple.

Outside of the NFL, Kelce has always expressed enthusiasm for sporting franchises from Northeastern Ohio. Naturally, Taylor Swift was being a supportive girlfriend to Kelce, as he hopes his hometown MLB team can win their first World Series since 1948.

Broadacaster TBS is probably looking at the television ratings from Game 1 of the ALCS with a large grin. As the NFL has already learned, MLB would be wise to lean into any Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce coverage. If MLB is looking to grow their game, tapping into Tay Tay’s expansive fanbase will only have positive ramifications for baseball.

The Taylor Effect

With New York up 1-0, Game 2 between the Yankees and Guardians is scheduled for Tuesday in the Bronx. First pitch is set at 7:38 p.m. ET. If the Chiefs take Tuesdays off like many other NFL teams, there is a fair chance that Kelce and Swift will be back at Yankee Stadium in support of Cleveland.
