Kids these days aren’t as mesmerized by speedy hedgehogs and Italian plumbers like we once were. They’re far more obsessed with games like the brightly-colored battle royale Fortnite. Since 2017, this immensely popular sandbox shooter has garnered millions of worldwide fans, and with constant updates, continues to stay relatively fresh. Playboy model Jade Nicole and her cousins are just a few of the game’s 60 million daily users.

Why Jade Nicole loves Fortnite
“It’s a way for me to bond with my cousins. I always play it with them and we just laugh and troll each other the whole time.”
Jade’s approach to Fortnite is all too familiar. If the game excels at anything, it’s building camaraderie with just about anyone you play it with. Friends, family, even complete strangers. Like any popular battle royale, the game pits you and your friends against another team in a battle of supremacy. The longer a round is, the smaller the playing field is.
But you already know this, surely. Fortnite is one of those things that both gamers and non-gamers are exposed to whether they want to be or not. Words like “Chug Jug,” “POI,” and “Battle Pass” now rank along the likes of “1up Mushroom,” “Master Sword” and “Shiny Charizard,” as “words even your mom is semi-familiar with.”

The game has perhaps maintained its relevance by adding characters via its celebrated Battle Passes. Ryu and Chun Lie from Street Fighter. Scarlet Witch and Wolverine. And even friggin’ Goku! Picking out a favorite amongst the countless crossovers is easy for Jade.
“Arianna Grande looks so cute in it,” Jade says. “The pink glowy skin is so cool. And I’m a really big fan of her and I think that’s why I love playing as her the most.”
Despite her enthusiasm and love of the game, Jade isn’t ashamed to say that she’s not exactly Ninja when it comes to her skill level. When she plays with her cousins, there’s always at least a little on-mic conflict.
“We’re silly with it and sometimes we get into arguments,” Jade says. “They take it very seriously, and I don’t. And I just get a kick out of that.”
